Despite the light rain and grey sky the jazz concert at NYBG last night was awesome. A Centennial Tribute to the first recording and the international roots of Jazz led by powerhouse Latin jazz trombonist Chris Washburne and Brazilian virtuoso pianist André Mehmari.

Traveling across four decades of Franco-American music, swing to the hot jazz rhythms of Django Reinhardt to the playful melodies of French chanson. Horne’s ensemble pulls influences from traditional folk to Debussy, Ellington, and Porter, to the enchanting French Songbook, from Edith Piaf to Jacques Brel to Serge Gainsbourg.
